CHEVRON ORONITE COMPLETES
CARBOXYLATE PROJECT IN
SINGAPORE AND CELEBRATES
BRAND CENTENNIAL
Chevron Oronite celebrated both the
centenary of the Oronite brand and
completion of a major capital project
at an event in late 2017, which was
attended by Lim Hng Kiang, minister
for Trade and Industry (Trade) for Singapore, as well as customers, suppliers,
contractors and representatives from
other organizations.
"We are especially proud that this
project was completed safely, with
zero injuries, since it had additional
complexity and challenges due to
major construction taking place in
the middle of an operating plant,"
said Koon Eng Goh, general manager,
Manufacturing & Supply, Asia-Pacific
Region, Chevron Oronite.
One innovative approach used by
the company to help reduce some
of the project's unique challenges
was to prefabricate the main process
structures off-site and transport them
through barges and mobile trans-

porters for installation in their final
positions in the plant.
"With the help of hundreds of
employees and contractors, combined
with the effective collaboration and
outstanding support from Singapore
authorities, we continue to enhance our
ability to deliver innovative products
and reliably supply customers around
the world," Des King, president of
Chevron Oronite, said at the event.
The project, in development for
over four years, adds Carboxylate
production capabilities to Oronite's
Singapore plant and doubles Oronite's
worldwide production capacity of the
component. Carboxylate is an effective
sulfur-free detergent often used in
Oronite formulations that provides
differentiated additive solutions for
customers' finished lubricants, used
primarily in marine and automotive
engine lubricants.
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Oronite brand in 2017,
Oronite also announced a donation to
AWWA, a Singapore charity providing
social services to over 6,000 clients.

LOCKHART SELLS COATINGS UNIT
Lockhart Holdings Inc. has sold its
Bradley Coatings business in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, to United
Paint and Chemical Co. a manufacturer of industrial coatings in Southfield,
Michigan. Terms were not disclosed.
"The sale of the coatings business
gives us the resources to focus solely
on growing the Lockhart Chemical Co.
business," said Raj Minhas, president
and CEO of Lockhart Holdings. "We
are looking to expand our chemical
business through increased new product
introduction and acquisition."
Lockhart Chemical Co. is a manufacturer and global supplier of rustpreventive additives, calcium, barium
and sodium sulfonates, gelled calcium
sulfonates, emulsifier packages and
metal-processing additives.
AMERICAN REFINING GROUP
OPENS NEW QUALITY LAB
A little over a year after breaking
ground, American Refining Group
Inc. (ARG) has officially completed
construction of the new multimilliondollar quality lab at its historic
refinery. Formerly housed just inside
the facility's main gates, the lab now
adjoins the research and development
building roughly one-quarter of a
mile from the original location. The
massive project required considerable
collaboration and planning to ensure
the lab's services to the refinery and its
customers continued without interruption throughout the move.
The new facility includes a general
test lab, gas chromatography and
