PILOT CHEMICAL CO. NAMES NEW
PLANT MANAGER
Wanda Gonzalez has been named
plant manager of Pilot Chemical's
Houston plant. She will oversee all
manufacturing and logistics processes
at the plant and lead a team of about
30 employees.
Gonzalez has more than 30 years
of experience in specialty chemical
plant management and most recently
served as site manager at ISP Freetown
Fine Chemicals Inc. in Freetown,
Massachusetts. She earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering
from the University of Puerto Rico at
Mayagüez.
UNIVAR TO ACQUIRE NEXEO
SOLUTIONS INC.

ILMA members Univar Inc., a global
chemical and ingredient distributor,
and Nexeo Solutions Inc., a global
chemicals and plastics distributor, have
announced that they have entered
into a definitive agreement for Univar
to acquire Nexeo in a cash and stock
transaction valued at approximately
$2 billion, including the assumption
of Nexeo's debt and other obligations,
or $11.65 per Nexeo share, subject to
adjustment.
David Jukes, Univar's president and

our two companies, we will be even
better equipped to deliver superior
service and expanded value to our
customers and supplier partners. Our

EVONIK TO BUILD NEW PLANT
IN GERMANY

Evonik is investing in the construction
of a new multipurpose facility at its
Geesthacht location in Northern
Germany, roughly 18 miles outside
Hamburg. The additional capacities
created will be used for the production
of a range of silicones and silaneterminated polymers. The products are
used in many applications, including
in parquet adhesives, in adhesives for
wound care or encapsulation applications in electronics.
"The planned investment at the
Geesthacht site has an important strategic significance by helping us to further
strengthen our focus on innovative
specialty chemical products," said
Dietmar Schaefer, head of the interface
and performance business line of Evonik.
The new plant is scheduled to go
into operation at the end of 2019.
Besides the increased production
capacity, a facility for filling tank

trucks is also being built at the site.
"This will simplify the delivery and
storage process for our customers, and
in doing so increases efficiency," said
Dr. Sabine Giessler-Blank, head of the
polymer and construction specialties
product line. "The additional production capacity will also create room for
us to develop new products, enabling
us to increase the performance of our
customers' products and to react to
future demands in the adhesives and
sealants market."
The Geesthacht site, with about 100
employees, will focus on two areas:
silicone and nanotechnology. The
addition- and condensation-curing
silicones, as well as the silaneterminated polymers, are used as
binders in adhesives and sealants,
electronics and medical applications.
Among other things, the company's
silica-based nanomaterials serve as
property-enhancing additives in fiber
composites, which are used in the
automotive and aerospace industry.
AFTON CHEMICAL COMPLETES
SINGAPORE PHASE II EXPANSION

Afton Chemical Corp. has announced
the completion of the Phase II
expansion of its new chemical additive
manufacturing facility in Jurong
Island, Singapore. Phase II's expansion
jump-starts production of advanced
ashless dispersants and anti-wear components. This milestone was marked
by a special visit from Singapore's
Minister for Trade & Industry, Chan
Chun Sing, who made a speech and
toured the facility.
