Care Program
WHAT IS NAM HEALTH CARE?
As part of its charge to advance the success of the more than
12 million men and women who make things in America
and their families, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) has collaborated with Mercer (www.mercer.
com) and UnitedHealthcare® (www.uhc.com) to develop
an association health plan (AHP), NAM Health Care, that
meets the unique health care needs of manufacturers.
Our mission is to provide our member companies with
medical, dental, vision and life plans built specifically for
small to medium-sized manufacturers, including lower premiums, reduced administrative costs and more coverage options
to help meet the needs of their employees. The NAM Health
Care (www.namhealthcare.com) plans may save manufacturers up to 15-20% on their annual health insurance costs.
With NAM Health Care, manufacturers will have access
to UnitedHealthcare's largest preferred provider organization
networks and Mercer's Multiple Employer Solutions. Mercer's
Multiple Employer Solutions is a one-stop shop for our manufacturing member companies. The solution makes the benefitsbuying process easy for our members and their employees.
UnitedHealthcare is dedicated to simplifying the health
care experience, meeting consumer health and wellness
needs and sustaining trusted relationships with care
providers. The company provides global health care benefits
serving individuals, employers, and Medicare and Medicaid
beneficiaries. Mercer is a global brokerage and consulting
firm with more than 65 years of experience creating and
managing insurance programs for associations and other
affinity membership organizations. With more than 400
association clients, Mercer has the privilege to serve some of
the largest, most prestigious associations in the country.
WHAT IS AN AHP?
An AHP is a health plan offered by a group of employers
within an association. NAM Health Care is a bona fide
pre-rule industry-based AHP and allows our manufacturing
companies to band together to manage and purchase coverages typically enjoyed by larger manufacturing companies at
a competitive price.

NAM Health Care will be operated by the plan's governing committee, made up of mostly small and medium-sized
manufacturers. This committee will manage the NAM's
fully insured medical, dental, vision and life plans with the
support of Mercer and UnitedHealthcare.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
NAM Health Care will be offered all across the country*
and will offer an AHP in regions where state law supports
the offering and affinity plans for all other states. We have
selected Mercer's web-based onboarding process, where
member companies can get to the information most
important to them - information such as, "What benefits
are available to me?" "What does it cost me?" and "How do
I roll it out to my employees?" NAM has created a format
to provide an incredible member experience both for the
employer and employees.
The onboarding solution will allow member companies to
do the following:
* Learn about the multiple cost-saving Fortune 1,000
product suite, including medical, dental, vision and life
plans available to them.
* Request a quote for the tailored benefits they'd like to
offer to their employees.
* Review quotes and purchase competitive benefit plans
from UnitedHealthcare.
* Select plan designs with access to employee contributions tools to help develop acceptable net costs for the
membership companies.
EMPLOYEE ENROLLMENT AND
ENGAGEMENT SOLUTION
Once member companies have signed up, the employee
or member experience must be a straightforward engaging process to optimize employee engagement. Mercer's
technology-based enrollment system provides a streamlined,
easy-to-use shopping experience. In addition to clearly
explaining the benefits available, the site provides guided
shopping tools to help manufacturing employees select the
most appropriate plans and benefits to fit their family needs.
