A DIFFERENT KIND OF PET
"I grew up in an artistic family. My mother is very artistic, so
more recently, I have sort of rediscovered that and have been
doing some watercolor painting. I'm hoping to get better,
but it's a lot more difficult than I thought it would be. I find it
relaxing because it is something completely different from
work. Since my job is global, it's hard to disconnect. Finding
something that I can do anywhere, and is completely separate
from my work, is nice."
"Growing up, I lived in the country, so we had lots of different
pets. Pretty much any kind of pet you can imagine, including
raccoons. We raised them from babies until they were adults
and would eventually leave to find mates. We had one that
came back every year and would bring her babies back to
show my mother, because my mother had a natural affinity
with raccoons. We had about four at different times throughout my childhood. They would play with the dogs, running in
and out of the house like any other pet."
IT RUNS IN THE FAMILY
"I've been married for 22 years. My husband and I have three
children. My oldest is 21 and is going into an accelerated master's program her senior year at Penn State [University]. My
second daughter will be 19, and she is a sophomore at Penn
State. My son is 14, and he is going into high school. We're a
Penn State family. My husband is very much brainwashing
him [to go to Penn State.] My son is an avid basketball player.
At 14, he is 6 feet 6 inches and wears size 16 shoes. If he ends
up being scouted for a scholarship, he will go wherever the
scholarship sends him, but otherwise, he will be at Penn State.
My husband is a Penn State alumnus, along with his brother
and sister and all of their cousins, so we're very much a Penn
State family."
DISCONNECTING
"I enjoy physical fitness and nutrition. I also enjoy cooking
and trying out new healthy recipes and involving the kids in
that. Healthy eating is a passion, which all ties back to the EHS
(Environmental Health & Safety) aspect of my career.

PARENTING & PERSEVERANCE
"I want my children to find their own path. While my husband
has his own construction business, we were always very conscious of saying 'This is not what you have to do,' so just being
supportive of them and helping them find what makes them
happy is the most important. I tell them, you don't always
have to be the smartest person in the room to be the most
successful. You do have to be the person who is willing to stick
it out and persevere through the hard times. So, they all take
the lesson 'hard work pays off' to heart."
