If you are eligible to participate in the VDRP, be sure you go to the FAA Web site and read up on the requirements.
You can also review Advisory Circular 00-58B, Voluntary Disclosure Reporting Program, for all the references you need as well. Another key safety information sharing program is the Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). The ASAP is based on a safety partnership that includes the FAA, the certificate holder, and, sometimes, a third party, such as a labor organization. The ASAP encourages air carrier and repair station employees to report voluntarily errors critical to identifying potential precursors to accidents or incidents. Under an ASAP, safety issues are resolved through corrective action rather than through punishment or discipline. The ASAP began with air carriers and pilots and soon expanded to aviation maintenance organizations and personnel. Over the past several years, the number of ASAPs has increased significantly and includes participants from other
