Olden developed, to install the soil nails. During peak construction, they installed over one mile of nails per day. On the outside of the stadium bowl, McKinney Drilling went to work installing 60-foot-deep piers for support. On the inside of the bowl, the piers are 40 to 48 feet deep. In total, about 200,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete, and about 20,000 tons of reinforcing steel were required for the 104-millioncubic-foot stadium, which is the largest enclosed stadium in the NFL (just one of many records this stadium holds). Once the bowl and its reinforcement were complete, the structure could begin taking shape. Besides the arches, the roof, the end zone doors, and the video screen (which we’ll get to later), one of the more arresting features of the stadium is the glass “curtainwall.” The 86-foot-high, 500,000square-foot canted wall, which slopes outward at a 14-degree angle (another first in the NFL), spans the entire length of the stadium.
