Advocates, such as AIA New York's co-chair of the Desig n Awards Committee 2009 Snigdha Mittal, chair of the T echnology in Architectural Practice C ommittee Erleen Ha tfield, and for mer c hair of the Technology in Architectural P ractice C ommittee P aul Seletsky, are pushing for g reater use of BIM. Not only can productivity gains be realized, they say, but the use of BIM can bring added benefits to a project. Advocates note that it is an opportunity to keep pace with other industries - such as the aut omobile, aerospace, petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries - which have been using similar tools for years. To help implement its use, the AIA National Chapter recently released standard c ontracts and for ms gear ed specifically for the use of BIM.
